چکیده

The Eternal system provides a novel methodology for the consistent replication of objects in an adaptive, faulttolerant, CORBA-compliant distributed system that is susceptible to partitioning. Passive and active replication schemes are supported in Eternal, and mechanisms are provided for the interaction of objects with different replication schemes. Nested operations for both passive and active objects are accommodated. Suppression of duplicate operations is ensured by unique message and operation identifiers. Continued operation is allowed in all components of a partitionedsystem. State transfer mechanisms and fulfillment operations restore the consistency of the states of replicas within the components of a partitioned system when communication is reestablished and the components

Replica consistency of CORBA objects in partitionable distributed systems

The Eternal system enhances the CORBA standard to provide fault tolerance within distributed systems that are susceptible to network partitioning. Fault tolerance is achieved through consistent replication of both client and server objects. Objects may be actively or passively replicated, and replicated objects of both types may coexist. Nested operations involving both active and passive objec...

Data Replication and Weak Memory Consistency: Predictable CORBA Interactions with Composite Objects

The Object Management Group’s (OMG) Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) is an important and popular technology that supports the development of object-based, distributed applications. The benefits of abstraction promised by CORBA (location transparency, heterogeneity, dynamic configuration, etc.) are appealing in many application domains, including those that satisfy real-time req...

The RTDEVS/CORBA Environment for Simulation-Based Design of Distributed Real-Time Systems

The increasing complexity of large-scale distributed real time systems demands powerful real time object computing technologies. Furthermore, systematic design approaches are needed to support analysis, design, test, and implementation of these systems. In this paper, we discuss RTDEVS/CORBA, an implementation of DEVS modeling and simulation theory based on real time CORBA communication middlew...

A CORBA Replication Voting Mechanism for Maintaining the Replica Consistent

Nowadays, more and more applications are being developed through distributed object computing middleware, such as CORBA, their requirements for fault-tolerance, especially real time and critical system, become more and more critical. Despite almost ten years have passed since the earliest FT-CORBA standard was promulgated by Object Management Group (OMG), CORBA is still facing many challenges w...

Responsive Services with CORBA

The Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) is a widely-accepted, standardized system integration framework based on distributed object technologies. CORBA facilitates general computing environments and does not explicitly address the needs of responsive (fault-tolerant, real-time) computing. Therefore, the question remains how to extend today’s CORBA implementations for support of re...
